Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar is a premier educational institute sprawling over a 400 acre green campus on the banks of Sabarmati, housing about 1200 students. High quantum of waste is generated from the canteens, faculty and staff residences, research labs and other facilities in the campus. In partnership with Pro Waste, the campus has streamlined the process of handling its waste. IIT GN has an in-situ biogas plant, a composting pit and generates revenue from waste. Central Power Research Institute, Bangalore is an institute for applied research in electrical power engineering. It functions as an independent national testing and certification authority for electrical equipment.The CPRI campus is spread across 110 acres having 280 housing units. Vasant Vihar Army Residents Welfare Association is a gated community spread across 18 acres in Bangalore. It consists of Villas, Apartments and a club house. The residents being environmentally conscious partnered with Pro Waste Concepts to divert their waste from landfills. The project was initiated by the end of August 2017.The residents were educated about segregating their waste. The housekeeping was trained to carry out secondary segregation of the waste. They have in situ compost pits which are used to compost their organic waste. The recyclable waste and bio-medical waste is collected by specific vendors for safe disposal.
